MUMBAI - An 11-year-old boy who went for the toss with the two captains, Darren Sammy (WI) and Misbah-ul-Haq (Pak at the Guyana National Stadium in the just concluded Test has found a very unique way of practicing and improving his game, according to Ms. Gillian Power, the Media Manager for Digicel Cricket.
Speaking exclusively from Guyana, Ms. Power said, “The local boy, Raymond Peter Perez has taught his pet dog (Diamond) a few cricket tricks so he could help him. The boy has been practicing to bowl at Diamond. The dog catches the ball and brings it back to the boy. Then he teaches the dog how to bowl the ball to him so that he can practice his own batting.”
"This very innovative young man is a member of the Georgetown Cricket Club, and is currently playing in the U-15 cricket competition. Perez, is awaiting the results of the Common Entrance Examinations which will determine the high school he will ultimately attend", the Media manager further added. The boy is an avid cricket fan who has been playing the game since the age of four, and his dream is to be a part of the West Indies team when he grows up. The boy had the opportunity to join in the coin toss with the two skippers. "Digicel really enjoys being able to bring youngsters such as Raymond closer to the game and to provide them the opportunity to meet international cricketers", Ms. Power signed off.
