Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25: Code of conduct violation announcements

Lahore, 28 October 2024: Bahawalpur Region’s Mohammad Sheharyar has been fined 35 per cent of his match-fee for breaching the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel during his side’s match against Azad Jammu and Kashmir Region in the first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Sheharyar was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match”.

The incident happened when Sheharyar delayed his departure from the crease and gestured in frustration after being given caught behind, which was deemed as a disagreement over the decision by the on-field umpire.

Sheharyar was reported by on-field umpires Saqib Khan and Farooq Ali Khan at the end of second day’s play. Sheharyar accepted the charge and the sanction handed out by match referee Nadeem Arshad hence there was no need of a formal hearing.

Jahandad Khan fined for code of conduct breach

Lahore, 30 October 2024: Rawalpindi Region’s Jahandad Khan has been fined 75 per cent of match fee for a level 2 breach of the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during his side’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-round match against Rawalpindi Region at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Jahandad was found to have violated Article 2.13 which reads as “Personal abuse of a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire or Match Referee during a Match”.

The incident happened in the 123rd over of Multan first innings batting on the fourth day of the match on Tuesday, when Jahandad while bowling abused Multan batters.

Since Jahandad pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed, there was no need of a formal hearing.

The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Imtiaz Iqbal and Kashif Sohail.

Imran Butt charged for code of conduct violations

Lahore, 30 October 2024: Lahore Region Blues’ Imran Butt has been fined 80 per cent of his match fees for breaching the two codes of PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during his side’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-round match against Dera Murad Jamali Region at the Saeed Sports City Bedian in Lahore.

Imran was found to have violated Article 2.7 and 2.8. Article 2.7 reads as “Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in a Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match Official or team participating in a Match, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made”.

Article 2.8 deals with “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match”.

The incident happened in the 13th over of Lahore Blues’ second innings on the third day of the match on Monday, when Imran, after being given out caught, showed his dissent over the decision and later while leaving the crease made inappropriate comments towards the umpire.

Since Imran pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Kamran Chaudary, there was no need of a formal hearing.

The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Shozab Raza and Ghulam Sarwar.

Abdul Rehman Muzammil fined for code of conduct breach

Lahore, 30 October 2024: Bahawalpur Region’s Abdul Rehman Muzammil has been fined 35 per cent of his match-fee for breaching the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel during his side’s match against Azad Jammu and Kashmir Region in the first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Abdul Rehman was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match”.

The incident happened when Abdul Rehman showed dissent upon his dismissal and gestured while leaving the crease.

Abdul Rehman was reported by on-field umpires Saqib Khan and Farooq Ali Khan. Abdul Rehman accepted the charge and the sanction handed out by match referee Nadeem Arshad hence there was no need of a formal hearing.

Muhammad Ismail reprimanded for code of conduct violation

Lahore, 30 October 2024: Multan’s Muhammad Ismail has been reprimanded for a Level 1 offence which relates to conduct that brings the game into dispute. In the drawn match against Rawalpindi at the Shoaib Akhtar Stadium in Rawalpindi, Ismail used inappropriate words towards the bowler.

Multan’s batter was charged by on-field umpires Kashif Sohail and Imtiaz Iqbal for the violation of Article 2.21 of the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Ismail pleaded guilty and was reprimanded by match referee Mohammad Javed.

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai fined 30 per cent for code of violation 

Lahore, 7 November 2024: Quetta’s Abdul Wahid Bangalzai has been fined 30 per cent of his match-fee for breaching the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel on day one of the third round match against Lahore Blues at the Saeed Sports City, Bedian Lahore.

Abdul Wahid was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which reads as Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match.

The incident happened when Abdul Wahid after getting run-out showed frustration and threw his bat on the ground.

Quetta’s batter was reported by on-field umpires Tahir Rasheed and Rana Arshad. Abdul Wahid accepted the charge and the sanction handed out by match referee Bilal Khilji hence there was no need of a formal hearing.

Imran, Shamyl reprimanded for code of conduct breach

Lahore, 10 November 2024: Imran Randhawa of Bahawalpur Region and Shamyl Hussain of Islamabad Region have been fined 35 per cent of their match fee after they were found to have violated the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel.

Imran and Shamyl both violated the article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a match.”. Since both the players pleaded guilty there was no need of a formal hearing.

The incident in Imran’s case occurred in his team’s round three match against Multan Region when he was given caught out on Muhammad Shahzad’s ball in the first innings. On-field umpires Farooq Ali and Saqib Khan levelled the charges while match referee Nadeem Arshad handed the sanction. 

Shamyl showed dissent at Umpire’s decision during his second innings outing against Lahore Region Whites when he was given out caught off Mohammad Salman in 12th over. On-field umpires Aley Haider and Imranullah Aslam imposed the charges against Shamyl while match referee Iftikhar Ahmed imposed the fine.

AJK, Karachi Whites and Sialkot reprimanded for slow over-rate 

Lahore, 16 November 2024: Usama Mir-led Sialkot have been fine 5% per cent of their match fee for slow over rate in their fourth-round match against Lahore Blues at the Gohati Cricket Stadium, Swabi.

Sialkot were found to have violated the Article 2.22 of the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offence as, “Failure by a fielding team participating in a Match to meet the minimum overrate requirement.”

The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Kashif Sohail and Mohammad Arshad as Sialkot were found three overs short in the first innings where Lahore Blues declared for 439-7 in 100.1 overs. Sialkot pleaded guilty and the sanction imposed by Match referee Ahmer Saeed.

In a similar instance of the breach of Article 2.22 during the game between Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Karachi Whites at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, on-field umpires Farooq Ali and Saqib Khan levelled the charges against both teams. AJK were fine 10 per cent of their match fee through their captain Hasan Raza for being seven overs short in the whole match. On the other hand, Karachi Whites were fined five per cent of their match fee through their captain Shan Masood as they were two overs short of the stipulated time. Match referee Nadeem Arshad proposed the sanctions.
