Lahore, 20 September 2021: Pakistan Cricket Board has issued the following statement after the England and Wales Cricket Board announced they were withdrawing their sides from next month’s tour of Pakistan:
“We are disappointed by the ECB decision. Unfortunately, the ECB has been unable to reciprocate when we were looking upon them to help our cricket and further strengthen Pakistan’s credibility as a safe and secure country. Their decision will further set us back after New Zealand abandoned their tour last week.
Disappointed with England, pulling out of their commitment & failing a member of their Cricket fraternity when it needed it most. Survive we will inshallah. A wake up call for Pak team to become the best team in the world for teams to line up to play them without making excuses.

“Pakistan has worked extremely hard in the past few years and has proven to the world that we are as secure and safe as any cricket playing country. This has been acknowledged and appreciated by all the high-profile foreign cricketers who have either recently played international cricket in Pakistan or featured in the HBL Pakistan Super League in 2020 and 2021.
“While the ECB and the NZC decisions are a major blow to our untiring efforts and hard work, Pakistan is a resilient, strong and brave nation, and has the will, courage and strength to rebound strongly from these setbacks.”
