LAHORE–January 14, 2015: Chairman PCB Mr. Shaharyar M. Khan has congratulated Pakistan’s Women’s team captain Sana Mir, manager Ayesha Ashhar and the team management for the clean sweep in the three match one-day series against Sri Lanka.
The series win also means that Team Pakistan got all six points to qualify for the ICC Women’s Championship.
Transcript of Chairman PCB’s Message:
“I would like to congratulate the team on completing their highest chase in ODI history and also Javeria Khan on her maiden limited-overs century.
“Qualifying for the ICC Women’s World Cup Women’s cricket is a significant achievement. In recent years, Pakistan Women’s team has consistently performed well. This reflects the hard work and commitment of all the players and management. The Board and I personally am really proud of you all.
“At this occasion, I also hope that the recent achievements of our Women’s Team shall inspire more women and girls across the country to take to cricket. To increase the spread of women’s cricket, the Board has already taken several initiatives, like holding the inaugural Under-21 Malala Women Championship and increasing the number of facilities dedicated for our women cricketers.
“The Board has also recently acquired a ground at Model Town, Lahore from the Punjab government exclusively for women’s cricket; PCB has also signed a MoU with LUMS which would for our women cricketers open the latter’s ground and excellent training facilities in a superb environment.”
