Lahore, March 3, 2011: On the second anniversary of the Attack on the Sri Lankan Team Chairman PCB Mr. Mohammad Ijaz Butt has paid tribute to the memories of those who lost their lives on that horrific day. The Chairman said, "Two years ago precious lives were lost in one of the deadliest attack on our soil. It was a tragedy that will be forever seared in our collective conscious. We pause to remember the victims, to grieve with the families and friends of those who died, and to honor the heroes of that day who have sacrificed to save lives and serve their country. Despite the passage of time the grief and sense of loss that we all felt on that day is still as strong as ever. The considerable damage caused to Pakistan Cricket because of the attacks will take time and concerted efforts to mitigate. We are grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket that despite the events of that day they have once again expressed a willingness to tour Pakistan. The courage and sacrifice shown by the martyrs will never be forgotten. We stand united with the families and loved ones of those that we lost that day and as we remember our departed heroes our thoughts and prayers are with them".
A memorial ceremony was held at the site of the attack where flowers were laid by PCB in honor of the victims and prayers were offered for the dearly departed.
