PCB AGM 2015 recommends four new districts for affiliation
Stakeholders from across the country share views, give feedback
LAHORE–April 21, 2015: With stakeholders from all over the country in attendance, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2015 was held here at a five-star hotel today (Tuesday) with Chairman PCB Shaharyar Mohammad Khan presiding over it. Also present on the occasion were Chairman of PCB’s Executive Committee Mr. Najam Sethi as well as the entire top and upper tier management of the Board.
With 2013 and 2014 AGMs not held owing to litigation, this was the first AGM since 2012 – thus meeting the constitutional requirement of at least one general body meeting in a year after the gap of two years.
In his introductory remarks, Chairman Shaharyar Khan briefed the general body members on the Board vigorously pursuing revival of international cricket in Pakistan, which has resulted in Afghanistan and Kenya already having visited us, with an ICC full-member nation, Zimbabwe all set to come over in the middle of May 2015 for a number of limited-overs games.
With COO Subhan Ahmad moderating the AGM, subsequently minutes of the last meeting were approved, Annual Report 2013-14 came under discussion and the house unanimously accepted it as well. Having met the stringent PCB criteria, in accordance with constitution’s Article 20, the AGM also recommended affiliation and playing rights to four districts. These are: Lasbela, Khuzdar, Jaffarabad and Jamshoro.
Shamsa Hashmi, a veteran and newly-appointed General Manager in Women’s Wing, briefed the house on the rapid progress made by Team Pakistan in the last few years and future domestic and international plans.
Mr. Najam Sethi briefed the AGM on PCB’s ‘sponsorship initiative for regional cricket’, which will enormously benefit cricket at the domestic level.
In the PCB’s Future Programme, almost everybody was given an opportunity to dilate upon their views, suggestions and proposals and air their grievances. Chairman Shaharyar Khan and COO Subhan Ahmad assured the general body members that each one of the suggestions had been faithfully recorded and also that this feedback shall be given a sympathetic consideration in order to promote cricket across the country.
Chairman PCB especially assured members from FATA, Balochistan, interior Sindh and Southern Punjab of doing everything in the Board’s power to facilitate promotion of cricket in their respective regions.
