Youngsters disappointed on Pak defeat
KARACHI: The Royal Rodale Club and various other organisers hosted live screening of the World Cup semifinal cricket match between traditional rivals Pakistan and India on Wednesday.
Though youngsters seemed disappointed on the defeat of Pakistan cricket team, seniors advised them that winning and loosing are part of the game. A participant said that everyone should take cricket match as game not war. He said Pakistan team could not achieve victory, but it did its best. Pakistani people love their cricket team and would continue to support them, he added. A large number of people along with their families particularly the youth enjoyed the match on large screens with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.
Youngsters in green shirts expressed their emotions through slogans, rounds of applause, deafening vuvuzelas and cheers on every wicket and boundary. People coloured their faces green and wore Pakistan cricket team’s shirts while carrying the green flag. Patriotism was the common sentiment on the occasion. While expressing his views, a fan Rafiq Vayani said that the arrangements were beautiful and he enjoyed the match.
Meanwhile people through out the metropolis enjoyed the public holiday and watched the cricket match at their homes or gatherings at various spots. Almost in all towns, large screens were placed at several points to enjoy the semifinal match. Besides open public places, arrangements were made to watch the match at various hotels and cinemas.
Pasban Pakistan televised the cricket match on a fifty feet long cricket bat at Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Similarly United Catering Company established a good example, arranging three large screens for the Karachiites.
