Imran Tahir reprimanded for code of conduct breach

Karachi, 4 March 2021: Multan Sultans’ Imran Tahir has been reprimanded for breaching PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during the 14th fixture of HBL PSL 6 against Quetta Gladiators at the National Stadium in Karachi.

In a level 2 offence, Imran was found to have violated Article 2.20, which reads as: “Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match.

The incident happened in the eighth over of the Gladiators’ innings when Imran after taking a wicket took off his shirt completely and threw it away to reveal a message underneath. The act of throwing the shirt away was deemed contrary to the spirit of cricket by the on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Faisal Afridi and third umpire Richard Illingworth who levelled the charge.

Imran pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama.
