Zaheer Abbas concludes tenure as President ICC
PCB’s nominee, Mr. Zaheer Abbas completed a successful one year tenure as President of the ICC. His role was highly appreciated by the ICC delegates who gave him a farewell memento.
Special Fund for Pakistan
Chairman PCB, Mr. Shaharyar M. Khan circulated a document to the ICC delegates outlining the financial damage to Pakistan for having to play its home matches in third countries, mainly UAE. The Chairman PCB proposed a Special Fund for Pakistan to compensate for the financial burden of playing its “home” matches in UAE.
Review of ICC resolutions 2014 (Big-3)
The process of review of ICC resolutions 2014 (Big-3) is underway by the ICC that has setup working groups on a) The future tours programme, b)the required constitutional changes and c) the financial issues. These groups reports will be reviewed at the next ICC meeting in October to be held in Cape Town.
Bilateral meetings
Important bilateral meetings were held by Chairman PCB with his counterparts from India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and England. Modalities were discussed with the President of Sri Lankan Board, on the take-over of Presidency of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) by Pakistan from Sri Lanka, in Colombo in August .
A cordial meeting with held with Mr. Anurag Thakur, President BCCI. Future cricketing relations between the two Boards was discussed.
Chairman PCB assured his Afghan counterpart that Pakistan was prepared to hold 4-day and one day matches with Afghanistan in Pakistan at a mutually convenient time. Pakistan would also provide training and technical facilities to the Afghan Board.
