Pakistan and New Zealand drew the 3-match ODI series, 1-1, after rain stopped play in the seventh over of the 3rd and final ODI at Dubai International Stadium and eventually the game was abandoned.
Earlier, Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat on what looked a batting friendly 22-yards. Mohammad Hafeez fell to Lockie Ferguson in bizarre fashion after he leg flicked a delivery onto his stumps.
Fakhar Zaman looked in good touch. The southpaw powered his way to a brisk half-century. He miscued one off Colin de Grandhomme and was caught in the deep.
Babar, once again, seemed impregnable. His delightful stroke-play was a sight for sore eyes. He was joined by, Haris Sohail, who complemented him from the other end.
Both partnered for more than a hundred runs to consolidate Pakistan's position.
The men in green were set for a big finish but Ferguson had other ideas. His searing pace coupled with frequent variations in speeds proved too hot to handle. He achieved a career best of 5/45. In the process, he dampened Pakistan's plans of lifting the score over 300.
Sarfaraz's men ended up at 279/8.
In reply, New Zealand got off to a forgettable start. Shaheen Shah Afridi penetrated the defence of Colin Munro to draw first blood.
In the seventh over, rain stopped play. The match was eventually abandoned. As a result the series ended at 1-1.
Lockie Ferguson was named the Player of the match while Shaheen Afridi was adjudged as the Player of the series.
