LAHORE–December 11, 2014: Following is the latest Health Bulletin on Junaid Khan, Sohaib Maqsood and Ehsan Adil by Dr. Sohail Saleem, General Manager, Sports Medicine, PCB, based here at the (National Cricket Academy) NCA, under whose expert watch and supervision the trio is being put through recovery and rehab.
Junaid Khan: Close to final stages of recovery
“Junaid khan, the left-arm fast bowler with a right knee injury, has responded very well to rehabilitation work being done at the NCA. On the recent scans done on his right knee, the edema surrounding his initial defects has certainly reduced.
“His work load has now been gradually increased from pool activities now to ground activities. Since the last one week, he has been doing bowling with some ground training without any complaints. After consultation with an orthopedic surgeon next week, he will be ground tested for his availability for any form of competitive cricket.”
Sohaib Maqsood: Marked improvement
“Sohaib Maqsood, the right-hand batsman, was sent to us with a fracture on one of his wrist bones of the left hand after the one-day series against the UAE national team in the first quarter of November this year. After gaining initial treatment he has been working on his fitness at the NCA.
“He was gradually introduced to the rehabilitation of his injury to his left wrist. His hand rehabilitation has already entered in the intermediate stage of rehabilitation. On recent evaluation, he has shown marked improvement in the function of his left hand.”
Ehsan Adil: Back to the bowling crease
“Ehsan Adil, the right arm fast bowler had a side muscle strain with a suspicion of bony involvement after a traumatic injury while playing for Pakistan against New Zealand. After initial scans in Sharjah and Lahore initial suspicion of bony involvement was ruled out.
“Since then he has been under rehabilitation at the NCA and is making swift improvement. On Wednesday, he bowled a couple of overs without any complaints.”
