STATS CORNER - Pakistan is scheduled to play two Test matches in the current tour of West Indies. The first Test match will be played at Providence Stadium, Guyana, from May 12 to 16 while the second Test will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts from May 20 to 24. The current tour is Pakistan’s sixth where they have played 21 Test matches, won four, lost 10 and drew seven Test matches. Overall, Pakistan have played 44 Tests against West Indies, won 15, lost 14 and drew 15.
West Indies are seventh on the Test rankings table, but they will move up to sixth if they win the two-match series. Highest innings totals: West Indies’ 790 for three declared at Kingston in 1957-58 is their highest ever total against Pakistan. Pakistan’s highest against West Indies is 657 for eight declared at Bridgetown in 1957-58 series. Lowest innings totals: West Indies were bowled out for just 53 runs at Faisalabad in 1986-87 which is their lowest ever total against Pakistan. Their lowest against Pakistan at home is 127 at Port of Spain in 1992-93.
Pakistan’s lowest against West Indies is 77 which was made at Lahore in 1986-87. Pakistan’s lowest in the West Indies is 106 at Brigetown in 1957-58.
Highest match aggregate: As many as 1453 runs were scored for the loss of 32 wickets at Georgetown in 1957-578 which is the highest match aggregate between the two teams.
Lowest match aggregate: The lowest match aggregate between Pakistan and West Indies was recorded at Lahore in 1986-87 when 426 runs were scored for the loss of 29 wickets.
Highest individual scores: The highest individual score by a Pakistani batsman in any Test against the West Indies is Hanif Mohammed’s 337 at Bridgetown in 1957-58 series. Gary Sobers’ unbeaten 365 at Kingston in 1957-58 is the highest individual score for the West Indies against Pakistan.
Best bowling in an innings: Colin Croft’s eight for 29 at Port of Spain in 1976-77 is the best bowling performance in an innings for West Indies against Pakistan. Imran Khan who took seven wickets for 80 runs at Georgetown in 1987-88 holds the record of best bowling in an innings for Pakistan against West Indies.
Best bowling in a match: The distinction of recording the best bowling in a match on either side belongs to Fazal Mahmood who took 12 wickets for100 runs at Dhaka in 1958-59. The best match aggregate by a Pakistani bowler against West Indies in West Indies is Wasim Akram’s 11 for 110 at St John’s in 1999-2000. Corey Collymore’s 11 for 134 at Kingston in 2004-05 is the best bowling performance by a West Indian bowler on against Pakistan.
