Lahore, 3 April 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board is saddened on the passing of the former Test cricketer Farooq Hameed at the age of 80 years. He was Pakistan’s Test cap number 48 and represented the country in one Test match against Australia in December 1964 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Former Australia captain Ian Chappell was his solitary Test wicket.
Farooq, who was a right-arm fast bowler, played 43 first-class matches and his career stretched from 1961-61 to 1969-70. He picked up 111 wickets at an average of 25.21 with the help of three five-wicket hauls.
