Salient Features of Domestic Cricket Structure – 2014/15
- All the 26 teams (12 departmental and 14 regional outfits) previously taking part in Quaid-e-Azam and President’s Trophy separately will play jointly only in one first-class tournament i.e. Quaid-e-Azam trophy.
- There will be two tiers of first class cricket i.e. First-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Silver from the cricket season 2014/15.
- First-class Departmental and regional teams will compete jointly in the two-tier first-class cricket from the cricket season 2014/15.
- 12 top teams i.e. 6 departmental teams of previous year’s ranking of President’s Trophy 2013-14 and top 6 regional teams of previous year’s ranking of Quaid-e-Azam trophy 2013-14 would play in QAT Gold from domestic cricket season 2014-15.
- 14 teams i.e. 5 departmental teams finishing from 7 to 11 of previous years ranking of President’s Trophy 2013-14 plus 1 departmental team, winner of Grade-II Patron’s Trophy 2013-14 and 8 regional teams finishing from 7 to 14 of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2013-14 would play in QAT Silver from domestic cricket season 2014-15.
- 1 departmental and 1 regional team of QAT Gold, finishing at the bottom in season 2014-15 would be relegated to QAT Silver and vice versa. Top 1 departmental and 1 regional team of QAT Silver would be promoted to QAT Gold at the end of cricket season 2014-15 onwards.
- First class QAT Gold would be played amongst 12 teams on single-league basis and each team would get the opportunity to play 11 first-class matches. Total number of matches would be 67 including the final.
- In QAT Silver, 14 first-class teams would be divided in two pools of 7 and each team would get the opportunity to play 6 matches plus QF (7 matches), SF (8 matches) and final (9 matches). Total number of matches would be 49.
- There will be single one-day competition to be organized by PCB from cricket season 2014-15. The teams would be split between Patrons Cup Gold and Patrons Cup Silver on previous year’s one-day competition ranking accordingly.
- First-class 4-day tournament and 1-day national competition would be held separately from cricket season 2014-15.
- 1 departmental team at the bottom of QAT Silver in 2014-15 would be relegated to Patron’s Trophy (G-II) qualifying round from cricket season 2015-16 and the winner of Patron’s Trophy (G-II) departmental team in 2014-15 would be promoted to Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Silver from cricket season 2015-16.
- The first-class season will start in August/September each year.
- Regional U-19 teams would have 2 separate tournaments from cricket season 2014 / 15 i.e. U-19 Three-Day and U-19 One-day duration.
- 17 regional U-19 teams and 1 NCA U-16 Development Squad would take part in both formats of the game from cricket season 2014 / 15
- NCA U-16 Development Squad would comprise of top performers of inter-regional U-16 tournament
- There will be one T20 competition to take place in the domestic cricket calendar for 2014-15
- T20 tournament would be participated by regional teams only from cricket season 2014/15
- 17 regional teams would play T20 tournament
- In case PSL is not held in a particular year, a super 8 T20 competition would be held in that year
- T-20 tournament will be organized at an appropriate time keeping in view the broadcaster and the sponsors’ involvement. A permanent window for T20 tournament would be made in annual domestic calendar from this year onwards.
- New cricket format / structure would be introduced for 5 years from cricket season 2014 / 15 with an interim review after 3 years of its implementation
- Cricket balls usage from the cricket season 2014-15 would be as under;
o English super match balls of grays of Cambridge will be used for all First class, Grade-II departmental and Regional matches
o White Kookaburra balls will be used for One day and T-20 matches during the domestic tournaments
o Acelin Red and White cricket balls would be used for Inter region U-19 three day and one day tournaments
- It has also been decided that from the cricket season 2014-15, all first class matches would be played on the basis of 90 overs per day to get maximum cricket currently applicable internationally
- All domestic matches during the period from December 1, 2014 to January 25, 2015 would be scheduled in South to avoid extreme cold and foggy weather in North due to which number of matches could not be completed in the last cricket season. This would help participating teams to get maximum cricket, as chances are more brighter in South that matches to go full distance as compared to North where teams suffered and matches were not completed due to bad weather
- Matches of all premier tournaments would be scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, National Stadium Karachi, Multan Cricket Stadium, Diamond Club Ground Islamabad, National Bank of Pakistan Ground Karachi, United Bank Limited Ground Karachi, Sialkot Cricket Stadium, Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad, LCCA Ground, Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Arbab Niaz Stadium Peshawar, National Cricket Ground Islamabad, Pindi Stadium Rawalpindi, KRL Ground Rawalpindi, Arabian Sea Country Club Karachi, Marghzar Cricket Ground Islamabad, Country Club Muredke, Mirpur Cricket Stadium, AJK.

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold 2014-15
- In the coming season (2014-15), 12 Departmental and 14 Regional Teams (Total 26 Teams) will play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (First Class).
- These teams are divided into two divisions: QAT Gold comprising 12 Teams &QAT Silver comprising 14 Teams.
- For QAT Gold having First class status, 12 Teams are selected on the basis of their standings in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 203-2014 (Top 6 Teams) and President’s Trophy 2013-2014 (Top 6 Teams).
- The remaining 6 Departmental Teams along with 8 Regional Teams will play in QAT Silver also having First class status

- Two bottom teams, one departmental and one regional, of QAT Gold in 2014-15 will be relegated to QAT Silver in 2015-16 on the basis of their ranking on the points table in their respective categories.

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Silver 2014-15
- 14 Teams selected on the basis of their standings in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2013 -14 (8 Regional Teams) and President’s Trophy 2013-14 (6 Departmental Teams) for QAT Silver would participate in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy - 2014-15
- Following 14 Teams selected on the basis of their ranking in QAT and PT – 2013-14 will participate in QAT Silver in 2014-15:

- The above-mentioned 14 Teams in QAT Silver in 2014-15 will be divided in two pools comprising 7 teams in each pool
- Each team to play 6 matches in its respective pool plus 4 quarter finals, 2 semi-finals and 1Final for clinching Silver Trophy
- 2 Finalists teams would play 9 matches, 4 semi-finalists teams 8 matches, and 8 quarter finalists teams 7 and remaining teams would play 6 matches
- 2 top teams (1 Regional and 1 Departmental) of QAT Silver in 2014-15 will be promoted to QAT Gold in 2015-16
- One departmental bottom team on the basis of its points on the table will be relegated to Division-C President’s Trophy (G-II) Tournament 2015-16. This relegated team will be removed from the list of teams playing in the National One-Day Tournament 2015-16
- Total Number of matches to be played in QAT Silver: 49 matches

- Tournament Dates 1-day: September 4 to October 19, 2014
National T20 Tournament 2014-15
- 17 Regional Teams will participate in National T20 Tournament.
- Teams to be divided in 4 Groups, 3 groups to have 4 teams and 1 group to have 5 teams in this format
- Top four teams from each group to qualify for quarter finals followed by semi-finals and final
- Total Number of matches to be played in 17-Team T20 Cup:35

President’s Trophy G-II 2014-15
- 21 Teams, or if some other teams get themselves affiliated with the PCB by fulfilling the criteria, to play in President’s Trophy (G-II) 2014-15

- Number of teams in each group will be changed in case of new inductions by PCB.
- Top team of each group will qualify for semi-finals followed by the final. Semis will be played between top team of Group-A vs top team of Group-C, and top team of Group-B vs top team of Group-D

Pent-angular One day Tournament 2014-15
- 5 teams to participate in Pent-angular League in 1-Day format
- 75 top performers of Domestic Tournament 2014-15 will be selected by the National Selection Committee / Cricket Committee, PCB
- Total Number of matches to be played in this format: 11 including Final
- Duration of this One Day Tournament: 11 days
- Tournament Dates: September 11 to 21, 2014
Inter - Regional U-16 Tournament 2014-15
- 15 regional teams to participate in this format
- Teams to be divided in 4 Groups: 4 teams in 3 Groups and 3 teams in the fourth Group
- Total Number of matches to be played in this format: 24 matches
- Duration of the tournament: 20 days
