Manchester, 8 August 2020: England recorded a stunning come-from-behind victory by three wickets in the Old Trafford Test with a day to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series against Pakistan on Saturday.
After conceding a 107 runs first innings and then chasing 277 for victory, England had looked down and out after slipping to 117 for five. However, Jos Butler (75, 101b, 7x4, 1x6) and Chris Woakes (84 not out, 120b, 10x4) put on 139 runs to turn the tables on the visitors.
Yasir Shah took four for 99 in the second innings to follow up his four for 66 in the first innings, besides chipping in with a useful 24-ball 33 on Saturday morning that had stretched Pakistan’s overnight lead from 244 runs to 276 runs.
