ABU DHABI–October 11, 2015: Pakistan vice-captain Azhar Ali has not recovered sufficiently from the injury in his left toe that he suffered during the recent Zimbabwe series to feature in the first Test against England commencing here on Tuesday (Oct. 13).
The infection in his left toe was drained on his arrival in the UAE, and he is being administered on a daily basis. The bandage is all set to be removed on the eve of the first Test, but the management has decided not to risk possible deterioration.
Azhar had also sat out the third and last ODI against Zimbabwe owing to the same injury.
Meanwhile Azhar has been training throughout, though it has mostly been restricted to upper body exercises etc.
