Lahore, 11 March 2022: Balochistan’s Imran Butt and Central Punjab’s Muhammad Akhlaq have been fined 70 per cent and 30 per cent, respectively of their match fees for a level 1 offence for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during the fifth round fixture of Pakistan Cup.
Imran after being given run out in the 15th over of the match against Southern Punjab at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad showed dissent at the umpire’s decision and used inappropriate words before his departure from the crease and as such was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which reads as: “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match.” On-field umpires Nasir Hussain and Qaiser Waheed levelled the charge on the player, who accepted the sanction proposed by match-referee Nadeem Arshad.
In a separate incident, wicket-keeper Akhlaq showed dissent at the umpire’s decision for turning down his appeal for stumping in a match against Sindh at Multan Cricket Stadium. On-field umpires Waleed Yaqub and Aftab Gillani levelled the charge on the player, who accepted the sanction proposed by match-referee Ali Naqvi.
