Lahore October 28, 2011: Chaudhary Zaka Ashraf took charge as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board today. The New Chairman was welcomed by the PCB Management on his arrival at the boards Headquarters at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf brings with him years of experience of management and corporate world. He is a regular speaker and review panelist at high profile institutions like National School of Public Policy, National Management college and National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) Lahore.
Prior to taking charge as PCB Chairman, Mr. Zaka Ashraf was serving as President of Zarai Taraqiati Bank limited (ZTBL). During his tenure, he successfully turned the bank around from a loss incurring organization to a stable and profit making institution. The performance of the bank, during his tenure, has been appreciated by the State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Finance and other stake holders.
Speaking to the Media on the occasion Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf said, “I strongly believe that professional systems are crucial to the success of any organization. I intend to ensure that the PCB becomes a vibrant organization and build a sustainable vision for the future of Pakistan Cricket.
I will be focusing my efforts on bringing International Cricket back to Pakistan. I will be working closely with our International partners to ensure that the millions of cricket loving Pakistanis are not denied the ability to watch their stars and the game they love on our country’s soil.
I will also be laying a lot of stress on the improvement of our Domestic structure, as this is integral to the future of Pakistan Cricket. We will look at how the PCB can support the various regions and districts to ensure that future generations of cricketers are given the best possible support to grow as professional sportsmen.
While the challenges in front of me are formidable, I believe that by maintaining the right ‘line and length’ I will be able to tackle the multiple challenges faced by the PCB. I look forward to the support of stakeholders in Pakistan Cricket as we work towards building a better future for the game in Pakistan.
The isolation of Pakistan Cricket needs to be addressed. For that I intend to work closely with ICC, ACC and other boards in order to ensure good relationship with them. This would also help in confidence building for their decisions to come and play in Pakistan.”
The senior management of PCB then briefed newly incumbent chairman on the working of the organization.
