Vince (101) and Khushdil (60) power Karachi to win in high-scoring clash

Karachi, 12 April 2025: A record fifth-wicket partnership of 142 runs between James Vince and Khushdil Shah powered Karachi Kings to the third-highest successful chase in HBL PSL history here at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Saturday night against Multan Sultans.

Kings knocked down the 235-run target in 19.2 overs as Vince smoked his eighth T20 century (101, 43b, 14x4s, 4x6s), while Khushdil contributed a 37-ball 60 hitting five fours and four sixes.

After being invited to bat first, Multan got off to a strong start, scoring 17 off Adam Milne’s first over and 16 off Mohammad Abbas Afridi’s fifth. Shai Hope was dismissed in the next over, caught behind off Hasan Ali, as Multan ended the batting powerplay at 63-1.

Usman Khan was stumped off Khushdil Shah in the ninth over. Kamran Ghulam joined Rizwan in the middle as the duo stitched a 63-run stand for the third wicket. Rizwan brought up his half-century off 38 balls, while Kamran was dismissed by Abbas after scoring 36 off 19 balls inclusive of five fours and a solitary six. The wicket also marked Abbas’s 100th scalp in T20s.

Michael Bracewell, who struck a fiery 44 not out off 17 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes, joined Rizwan as the pair added 74 runs in the last four overs to take Multan to 234 for three. Rizwan ended unbeaten on 105, his fourth T20 century.

Karachi Kings’ chase began with Tim Seifert (32, 16b, 2x4s, 3x6s) and David Warner (12, 6b, 3x4s) falling in the fifth over with 52 runs on the board. Vince, batting at no.3, held one end as Karachi slipped to 79-4 in 6.5 overs.

Vince, who hit third fastest HBL PSL century, along with Khushdil brought Karachi within touching distance of the win as they stitched the record partnership off just 68 balls. The destructive duo departed with Kings requiring 13 off 10.

Abbas, batting at no.8, joined forces with Muhammad Irfan Khan to seal the game with a six on second ball of 20th over. hit a straight six to seal the win with four balls to spare. For Sultans Akif Javed picked up three wickets.
