MULTAN: Nature played a vital role on the opening day of the Triangular One Day Women Cricket Tournament 2018 that rolled into action here at Multan Cricket Stadium, on Sunday.
PCB Dynamites and PCB Challengers were to play the opening match of the series and it did start in a traditional fashion but half way through the match heaven opened forcing the umpires to call off the proceeding.
Having won the toss, PCB Challengers decided to test Dynamites batting. In 36 overs, Dynamites gathered fighting 128 runs for the loss of nine wickets. They mainly depended on the batting skills of Aliya Riaz (37) who remained at the wicket till her team’s innings was over. She faced 67 balls to hit five boundaries two of them sixes. She was ably supported by Javeria Khan with 28 runs that came off 37 balls and were laced with five fours. Later Natalia Pervaiz made 45-ball 24.
Dynamite was defused by Diana Baig with her to the line bowling claiming five wickets for 28 runs and Waheeda Akhter claimed one wicket. As their batting side lost its ninth wicket, rain propelled onto the field to halt the match and could not resume afterwards.
