Lahore, 28 October 2021: Shawaiz Irfan's 93 led Central Punjab U19 Blues to an emphatic nine-wicket win over Balochistan U19 Blues in their Pool B match of the third-round of the National U19 Cup today. This was Central Punjab U19 Blues second win in the tournament.
After opting to bat first at the Shalimar Ground in Islamabad, Balochistan U19 Blues were bowled out for 158 in the 43rd overs. Basit Ali top-scored with 39 off 83 balls. Off-spinner Arham Nawab picked three wickets for 26.
In reply, Shahwaiz and Usama Zahid put up a 154-run partnership for the opening wicket. Shahwaiz top-scored with 93 off 88, hitting 15 fours. His opening partner returned undefeated on 60 from 87 balls as Central Punjab U19 Blues chased down the target in the 30th over.
In a Pool A fixture at the Lahore Country Club in Muridke, Sindh U19 Whites defeated Northern U19 Whites by three wickets. Batting first Northern were bowled out for 120 in the 35th over. Sudais Ulfat top-scored with 33.
In reply, Sindh U19 Whites chased down the target for the loss of seven wickets in the 30th over. Kashif Ali top-scored with 38, while Adeel Meo returned undefeated on 36. Faizan Saleem picked four wickets for 41.
In another Pool A match at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites thrashed Southern Punjab U19 Whites by 128 runs.
Batting first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were dismissed for 218 in the 47th over. Afaq Ahmed top-scored with 48, while captain Abbas Ali contributed 41 runs. Arbaz Ahmed, Faisal Akram and Mohammad Ismail picked three wickets apiece.
In reply, Southern Punjab were perished for 90 in the 39th over. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Abbas Dawar picked three for 13, while Abbas Ali and Ismail Khan grabbed two wickets each.
In a Pool B match at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues beat Southern Punjab U19 Blues by three wickets in a low-scoring game. Southern Punjab batting first were dismissed for 114 in the 37th over. Moheer Saeed top-scored with 44, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Ayub Khan, Ahmed Khan, Mohammad Yasin Khan and Salahuddin picked two wickets each.
In reply, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues achieved the target in the 22nd over for the loss of seven wickets. Umar Khan coming to bat at number seven top-scored with 38 off 24 balls, laced with six fours and one six.
In another Pool B match being played at the National Ground in Islamabad, half-centuries from Huzaifa Munir and Abdullah Fazal guided Sindh U19 Blues to a six-wicket win over Northern U19 Blues.
Batting first, Northern were bowled out for 157 in the 48th over. Khawaja Mohammad Hafeez picked four wickets for 21, while Talha Ahsan grabbed three for 30.
In reply, Sindh chased down the target for the loss of four wickets in the 30th over. Huzaifa scored 54, while Abdullah chipped in with 53.
The third fixture of the Pool A between Balochistan U19 Whites and Central Punjab U19 Whites will be staged tomorrow at the Sports Stadium in Sargodha.
