Karachi, 10 December 2020: The tenth and final round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Second XI (three-day non-first-class) tournament commenced at three Karachi venues today (Thursday). Sindh who are in the lead with 45 points tally are aiming to secure the title over the course of their match against bottom placed Balochistan who have 16 points.
Second-placed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (36 points) are taking on fifth-placed Northern (21 points) while third-placed Central Punjab (31 points) are squaring-up against Southern Punjab (24 points).
Balochistan vs Sindh, KCCA Stadium, Karachi:
Balochistan won the toss and asked Sindh to bat first. Sindh were bowled out for 279 runs in 80.3 overs. Muhammad Taha top-scored with 66 (106 balls, seven fours). Fahad Iqbal contributed 65 runs with the help of nine fours.
For Balochistan Gohar Faiz and Raza-ul-Hasan took three wickets apiece while Najeebullah and Zainullah took two wickets each.
At close of play Balochistan had reached 15 for no loss after 3.3 overs of batting.
Northern vs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, TMC Ground, Karachi:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa asked Northern to bat first after winning the toss.
Northern were bundled out for 173 in 39.3 overs. Mubasir Khan top-scored with 64 off 67 balls (seven fours, two sixes). Asif Afridi was once again the bowling linchpin for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa side as the left-arm-spinner took five wickets for 51 runs.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finished day-one with a 17-run first innings lead having reached 190 for four at close in 49 overs. Saqib Jamil top-scored with 75 off 97 balls (eight fours, one six). Ashfaq Ahmed was unbeaten on 68 (116 balls, four fours).
Central Punjab vs Southern Punjab, NBP Sports Complex, Karachi:
Left-arm-spinner Ali Usman took eight wickets for 57 runs as Southern Punjab dismissed Central Punjab for 202 runs in 54.1 overs. Anas Mehmood with 66 off 118 balls (seven fours, two sixes) was the top-scorer. Imran Dogar made 43 runs.
Southern Punjab had in reply reached 98 for three after 28 overs when stumps were drawn for the day. Anas Mustafa is batting on 35 while Mukhtar Ahmed was dismissed after making 34 runs.
