FAISALABAD - May 14, 2015: Sarfraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq steered Karachi Dolphins to a seven wickets win against Multan Tigers in the ongoing Cool & Cool Presents Haier Super8 T20 Cup 2015 here at the Iqbal Stadium on Thursday.
Tigers piled up 147 runs for nine wickets but Dolphins reached 149 runs with 18 balls to spare losing three wickets.
Sarfraz made an unbeaten half century and developed a partnership of 81 runs for the third wicket with Asad, who made 46 runs. After early jolt of two wickets for 22 runs, these two batsmen of the national team showed the way to their team to win. Asad took 36 balls and hit four fours before being bowled and caught by bowler Sadaif Mehdi and fielder Aftan Niazi. When Asad headed back to the pavilion, Sarfraz overhauled the score alongside Mohammad Waqas 24. These two Dolphins bats remained together till the score was over and they combined made 40 runs for the fifth wicket. Aamer Yamin and Sadaif took two and one wicket in sequence. They and their other bowling partners failed to pose any danger to Dolohins’ batsmen.
Earlier, put into to bat, Tigers lost their openers Ahmed Rasheed 13, and Ammar Ali (2) for 25 runs and Gulraiz Sadaf and Aamer Yamin added 69 runs for the third wicket to have something on the board to stand for. Gulraiz made 41-ball 40 and Yamin hit 35-ball 47. As Gulraiz hit two fours and a six, Yamin saw the ball cross the ropes three times and go over it twice. Once these two batsmen were out, Tigers stumbled from 94 for three to 121 for eight, thus losing five wickets in 27 runs. They were then 135 for nine in which Yasir Butt 13 and Zulfiqar Babar not out 14 were quite valuable. Mohammad Sami, Fawad Khan, Abdul Ameer and Faraz Ahmed applied breaks on the Tigers batting taking two wickets each while Anwar Ali had one.
