Saad (117) and Shahzad (129) hit crucial centuries

Karachi, 20 January 2025Sui Northern Gas Pipelines’ (SNGPL) Saad Khan struck his sixth first-class century to steer his team out of crisis against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday at the NBP Sports Complex, Karachi.

Saad (117, 218b, 14x4s, 2x6s), who walked in to bat at No.5, when SNGPL had lost top three – Abid Ali, Shahzaib Khan and skipper Omair Bin Yousuf for ducks with scorecard reading nought for three.

SNGPL soon slipped to 27-5, when Saad and Arafat Minhas staged a rescue act with a 120-run stand for the sixth wicket. While Saad dug deep in his 218-ball outing, Arafat hit a brisk 70-ball 71 with the help of eight fours and two sixes.

SBP bundled out SNGPL for 242 in 73.2 overs with Kashif Bhatti taking three wickets. Aimal Khan Mohammad Ismail and Niaz Khan picked up two each. In turn, SBP were 71-2 at stumps. Haris Rauf picked up the two SBP wickets to fall.

At SBP Sports Complex, Pakistan Television’s Muhammad Shahzad showcased his batting prowess with a masterful century at No.7, his third in first-class format, against Khan Research Laboratories.

PTV were struggling at 101-5, when Shahzad got going as he hit 13 fours and four sixes in his 129-run outing off 158 balls. PTV were bowled out for 335 in 85.3 overs. For KRL, Rohan Qadri, Ahmed Bashir and Arshadullah picked up three wickets each. In turn, KRL were 3-1 in two overs at close of play.

Ghani Glass’ Haseeb-ur-Rehman wreaked havoc with figures of 6-48 to help his team dismiss Higher Education Commission for a mere 140 in 45.5 overs. In turn, HEC’s Mohammad Azab picked up a five-for (5-51) to reduce Ghani Glass to 179-9, when the stumps were drawn.

At KCCA Stadium, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited were invited to bat first by Water and Power Development Authority and they finished the day with 265-5 on the board in 90 overs with the help of half-centuries from Hasan Raza and Abdul Rehman Muzammil.
