Lahore, 17 October 2021: The second round of the National U19 Championship (three-day) commenced at six venues today. On the first-day, Sindh U19 Blues captain Rizwan Mehmood and Southern Punjab U19 Whites batter Mohammad Shehzad hit centuries.
In a Pool A fixture being played at the Jinnah Stadium Sialkot, Balochistan U19 Whites were sent packing for 138 in their first innings against Northern U19 Whites. Mohammad Muddasir top-scored with 31 runs. Hasnain Sabir took four while Shan Khan and Jahandad Khan took two wickets each.
Northern had reached 91 for one at close, Syed Hashim Ali was unbeaten on 59 off 90 balls (nine fours, one six).
In another Pool A fixture being staged at the Lahore Country Club Muridke, Southern Punjab U19 Whites posted 313 for 9 in their first innings courtesy a 107-run contribution by opener Mohammad Shehzad against Sindh U19 Whites. Shehzad hit 14 fours in his 174-ball effort. Mohammad Ammar scored 71 off 120 balls with the help of eight fours. Wahaj Riaz took three wickets.
In reply, Sindh U19 Whites were one for one when stumps were drawn for the day.
In another Pool A fixture that commenced at the Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala, Central Punjab U19 Whites were 217 for nine in 72.2 overs against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites when bad light stopped play. Usman Nadeem top-scored with 68 off 134 balls (10 fours). Ali Zunair Asif who opened the innings scored 51 off 124 balls (five fours). Khalid Shah took three while Mohammad Ayaz and Mohammad Umer took two wickets each.
In a Pool B fixture at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi, Balochistan U19 Blues were bowled out in their first innings for 182 against Northern U19 Blues. Basit Ali top-scored with 43 while Mohammad Waheed contributed 28 not out. Abu Bakar scored 25 runs. Aamir Hussain took three while Affan Ishaq and Abidullah took two wickets apiece.
In reply, Northern U19 Blues reached 136 for four at stumps. Hussain was batting on 70 (96 balls, 12 fours). Sajjad Ali took two wickets.
In another Pool B fixture being played at the National Cricket Ground Islamabad, captain Rizwan Mehmood’s superb 146 off 202 balls helped Sindh U19 Blues post 273 all out in their first innings. Rizwan smashed 17 fours and three sixes in his innings. Talha Ahsan scored 38, Mohammad Zahid took four wickets for Southern Punjab U19 Blues.
At close of play, Southern Punjab U19 Blues were reeling at 29 for three in their first innings.
In another Pool B fixture that commenced at the Shalimar Cricket Ground Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues were rolled over for 159 in their first innings against Central Punjab U19 Blues. Chaudhary Shujah top-scored for KP U19 Blues with 54 while Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat scored 39 runs. Arham Nawab and Ali Asfand took three wickets each.
In reply, Central Punjab U19 Blues had reached 161 for two after 38 overs batting. Captain Hasnaat Abbas scored 67 off 75 balls (12 fours). Opener Usama Zahid was batting on 63 (102 balls, nine fours, one six).
