Lahore, 9 June 2024: Eshaal Associates lead by 109 runs with six wickets in hand in the second innings against Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) at the end of day two of the President's Trophy Grade-II final at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.
Earlier, at the start of the day, OGDCL continued their first innings from the overnight score of 64-4 and went on to post 315-7 in the allotted 75 overs. Wicketkeeper batter, Rizwan Ali struck a magnificent unbeaten century (143 not out, 205b, 14x4s, 1x6) to help his team gain a vital 18-run first-innings lead over Eshaal Associates.
Rizwan was aided by Mohammad Sarwar Afridi, batting at seven, who contributed 84 off 123 balls hitting seven fours and one six. The duo also stitched a 169-run seventh wicket stand. For Eshaal Associates, Mohammad Adil picked up three wickets. Hamza Sajjad dismissed two batters while Mamoon Riaz bagged one wicket.
In turn, Eshaal Associates’ opening batters, Mohammad Sudais (34, 36b, 4x4s, 2x6s) and Afaq Ahmed (23, 43b, 2x4s) put on a 51-run opening stand before the wickets started tumbling on regular intervals. Ahmer Ashfaq departed for a duck while Faizan Zafar scored 21 off 43 balls with the help of two boundaries.
Sajjad Ibrahim (33 not out, 44b, 6x4s) and Abdul Rehman (6 not out, 11b, 1x4), who added 22 runs before stumps were drawn on day two, will resume batting on day three for Eshaal Associates who will look to extend their 109-run lead.
OGDCL’s Mohammad Sarwar Afridi had a field day with bat and ball, picking up figures of 3-21 after scoring a valuable half-century while Mushtaq Ahmed picked up one wicket.
