Lahore, 12 December 2019: Only 18.2 overs were possible on a rain-shortened gloomy day-two of the first ICC World Test Championship series match as Sri Lanka moved to 263 for six in their first innings at the Pindi Cricket Stadium against Pakistan on Thursday.
Rain cut short the first session of play and when finally play resumed in the afternoon it had to be called-off due to bad light with a mere 110 balls bowled on day two.
Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 202 for five, Sri Lanka progressed to 256 when the 67-run sixth wicket partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Niroshan Dickwella was broken by Shaheen Shah Afridi who had Dickwella smartly caught by Babar Azam for 33(63 balls, four fours).
Play was unfortunately called-off 12 balls later with Dhananjaya de Silva unbeaten on 72 off 131 balls, the right-hander has so far hit 11 fours in his innings. He will have Dilruwan Perera for company when play resumes on day-three.
For Pakistan Shaheen and Naseem Shah with two wickets each are the most successful bowlers to date.
