Lahore, 6 October 2023: Centuries by Sahibzada Farhan and Kamran Ghulam take Peshawar to 330 runs on the third day of play for the fifth round of QeAT 2023-2024 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Multan, after batting through the day, have set the target of 432 for Karachi Whites to chase in the final innings at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. An undefeated century by Taimur Khan steered Rawalpindi into a comfortable position against Lahore Blues at Pindi Stadium. At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Faisalabad remain only two wickets away from securing a victory over FATA.
Lahore Whites v Peshawar at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore:
Peshawar resumed their innings from 76 for one at Gaddafi Stadium on the third day of play in the fifth round of the Quaid e Azam Trophy 2023-2024. Skipper Sahibzada Farhan (171, 311b, 7x4s, 1x6) and Kamran Ghulam (112, 249b, 7x4s, 1x6) steered their side to 330 runs. Peshawar only lost just one wicket in the day, courtesy of Ahmed Daniyal.
At stumps, Peshawar were 330 for two after 102 overs. The two centurions, Sahibzada and Kamran, remained at the crease.
Multan v Karachi Whites at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi:
At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi, Multan resumed from 169 for three in the 59.1 overs they batted the previous day. On the backs of Sharoon Siraj (83, 180b, 10x4, 1x6), Mohammad Imran (75, 115b, 8x4, 1x6), Hamayun Altaf (73, 120b, 6x4s, 3x6s) and Imran Rafiq (70, 147b, 12x4s), Multan got to 405 after batting for 134 overs.
Aaliyan Mehmood returned with four wickets while Asad Shafiq and Noman Ali got two wickets each, as Multan was bowled out.
Karachi Whites were tasked with chasing 432 in the final innings. In the seven overs they batted for, 19 runs were posted on the board.
Rawalpindi v Lahore Blues at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi:
Rawalpindi, at Pindi Cricket Stadium, were 40 for no loss at the start of the third day after being enforced a follow-on the previous day. Solid knocks by Hassan Raza (50, 106b, 5x4s) and Taimoor Khan (137 not out, 172b, 23x4s, 3x6s) stabilized Rawalpindi’s innings and steered them to 302 runs in 93 overs.
They lost eight wickets in the process; three came courtesy of Hunain Shah while Ali Shafiq and Kashif Bhatti got two each.
FATA v Faisalabad at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium:
Faisalabad resumed their second innings from 128 for five at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. Owing to an undefeated half-century (68 not out, 76b, 8x4s, 3x6s) by Irfan Khan Niazi, Faisalabad got to 220 runs. Ali Shan, who would have accompanied Irfan on the crease for the last wicket partnership, was retired hurt bringing the innings to an end.
FATA were asked to chase 308 in the final innings. By stumps, they had managed to score 156, however, losing eight wickets in the process. Mohammad Sarwar Afridi (59, 143b, 8x4s) was the most prominent batter, followed by Samiullah who scored 48 from 97 balls including six boundaries.
Mohammad Abubakr Khan had three wickets while Shahzad Gul and Khurram Shahzad grabbed two each.
