Lahore July 26, 2013: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rejects the contention of former PCB Chairman Mr. Khalid Mehmood, regarding sale of its broadcast rights in a transparent manner under the incumbent PCB management.
Giving details of the process involved in the sale of broadcast rights, PCB Spokesman said “This process has been carried out in an absolutely transparent manner on the past two occasions by none other than former ICC President Mr. Ehsan Mani. The process on this occasion would be followed on similar lines i.e., a committee will be formed in which Mr. Mani will be a member. He will be involved in each stage of the process from drafting of tender documents till signing of the agreement with the successful bidder. All major broadcasters will be invited to participate in the tender and an independent audit firm will be asked to monitor the entire process. The independent audit firm will be asked to submit its report on the whole process at its conclusion. The Chairman PCB does not get involved in this process. This is a tried and tested process which has ample checks and balances to ensure the transparency, robustness and prevention of any conflicts or undue influence. Involvement of a person of Mr. Mani’s stature lends further credence to this process. Therefore Mr. Khalid Mehmood’s misgivings on transparency in the sale of broadcast rights are unfounded and speculative”
