Inti recounts tales of Pakistan’s several tours, expresses hope
international cricket will return to Pakistan
Manchester – July 21, 2016: The Deputy Consulate General of Pakistan in Manchester hosted a reception/dinner in honor of Team Pakistan Wednesday night.
After their victory at Lord’s, the players and management received an enthusiastic, hero’s welcome by hundreds of Pakistani expats.
The Lord Mayors of Manchester and Rochdale, Members of Parliament and the Deputy Consul General were in attendance.
Intikhab Alam, manager of the touring Pakistan team made a set-piece speech in which he thanked the British Pakistani community for their support and spontaneous welcome.
He spoke of happy memories of his playing days for the national team and in county cricket in England and recounted the many cricketing successes of the various Pakistani outfits in England since the green caps first visit to the mother country in 1954.
Intikhab stressed that preparation for this tour has been thorough, and that it was reflected in the team’s performance at Lord’s.
Declaring his fervent hope that international cricket will return to Pakistan sooner than later, Intikhab spoke of the warm welcome the Zimbabwe team received when they toured Pakistan recently. He declared himself an optimist, by speaking of his firm belief that international cricket will return to Pakistan in the near future, and also his confidence that it will be a great success.
