- Balochistan’s Zainullah takes six wickets against Southern Punjab
Lahore, 28 October 2021: The seventh-round of the Cricket Associations Championship 2021-22 got underway in three Punjab venues today.
Northern’s Abdul Faseeh scored second successive century while Balochistan’s Zainullah picked six wickets on the first day of the seventh-round matches.
Over at the LCCA Ground in Lahore, Northern after being put into bat scored 324 for nine in 83 overs. Opening batter Abdul Faseeh scored back to back centuries, as he top-scored with 207-ball 168. His innings included 21 fours and two sixes.
Jamal Anwar (48 off 109, one four, two sixes) and Ali Imran (41 off 66, six fours, one six) were other significant contributors with the bat.
For Central Punjab, Nisar Ahmad picked three wickets for 68, while Imran Dogar grabbed two wickets for 86.
At stumps, Northern’s Shadab Majeed dismissed opening batter Imran Dogar for naught in the opening over to end day’s proceeding with Central Punjab at 0-1 in 0.2 overs.
Over at the Rana Naved Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura, Balochistan’s Zainullah picked six wickets as Southern Punjab were bowled out for 283 in the 82nd over.
For Southern Punjab, Hamayun Altaf top-scored with 90 off 125 balls, smashing nine fours and one six. Sharoon Siraj and Maqbool Ahmed contributed 43 runs each.
Zainullah, the left-arm spinner grabbed six for 113 in 32.1 overs. He was supported by Tariq Jameel who picked two for 58.
Over at the Saeed Ajmal Academy in Faisalabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after being put into bat were dismissed for 313 in the 83rd over. Opening pair Mohammad Mohsin Khan and Waqar Ahmed contributed 82 runs for the first-wicket. Mohsin top-scored with 59 off 111, hitting eight fours, while Waqar contributed 45 off 75, laced with six fours and two sixes.
Saqib Jamil coming to bat at number six scored 55 off 83, hitting four fours and one six.
At stumps, Sindh were 57 for one in 14 overs.
