New Zealand beat Pakistan in fifth T20I

Wellington, 26 March 2025: New Zealand beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the fifth T20I at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on Wednesday evening to win the five-match T20I series 4-1.

Pakistan, after being put into bat, were restricted to 128-9 in their 20 overs courtesy Jimmy Neesham’s career-best 5-22 in four overs.

For Pakistan, captain Salman Ali Agha (51, 39b, 6x4s, 1x6) and Shadab Khan (28, 20b, 5x4s) stitched a 54-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

For the hosts, pacer Jacob Duffy bagged two wickets for 18 runs, while Ben Sears and Ish Sodhi took one wicket apiece.

In turn, New Zealand achieved the target in 10 overs for the loss of two wickets. Tim Seifert starred with the bat, scoring a career-best 97 not out off 38 balls including six fours and 10 sixes.

Following the T20I series, Pakistan will play a three match ODI series, with the first ODI scheduled to take place on 29 March at the Mclean Park in Napier.
