Lincoln, 5 January 2021: A 113-run partnership for the fifth-wicket between Hussain Talat and Khushdil Shah went in vain as New Zealand A overcame Pakistan Shaheens by 20 runs in a T20 match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Tuesday.
In a 12 a-side match, New Zealand A, after being put into bat posted 181 for five.
JF Carter top-scored with an unbeaten 81 off 52 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes.
For Shaheens, Mohammad Hasnain and Danish Aziz took two wickets apiece.
Right-arm fast Hasnain accounted for both openers JA Raval (25) and RA Mariu (1).
In reply, Shaheens lost four wickets in quick succession and were 20 for four inside five overs before left-handers Hussain and Khushdil weathered the New Zealand A bowlers to stitch a solid partnership.
Khushdil top-scored with a 42-ball 70. His innings included 12 fours and one six.
Hussain innings of 44 came from 30 balls, which included two fours and three sixes.
After the departure of both batsmen, no other batsmen managed to keep the scoreboard ticking as the tourists were bowled out for 161 in 18.3 overs.
For the hosts, JNP Bhula and A Ashok took three wickets apiece.
This was Shaheens last match on the tour.
Shaheens won two and lost three T20s on the tour. Before switching to the T20 format, Shaheens won the only four-day match against New Zealand A by 89 runs at Cobham Oval in Whangarei.
