Lahore, 8 November 2021: Southern Punjab’s Moinuddin and Mukhtar Ahmed score centuries on day two of the ninth-round match against Sindh at the Rana Naved Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura on Monday.
In reply to Sindh’s first innings score of 387 for eight in 83 overs, Southern Punjab ended day two on 390 for four in 79 overs.
The opening pair of Zeeshan Ashraf and Mukhtar Ahmed provided a solid 120-run partnership. Left-handed Ashraf scored 67 off 81, hitting 10 fours. His opening partner Mukhtar scored 142 off 205, laced with 10 fours and three sixes.
The right-handed Mukhtar added 208 runs for the third wicket with Moinuddin who returned undefeated on 150 off 145 balls. Captain and right-handed batter Moinuddin struck seven fours and eight sixes.
For Sindh, Danish Aziz bagged two wickets for 147.
Over at the Saeed Ajmal Academy Faisalabad, Northern were still trailing by 75 runs with five second innings wickets in hand against Balochistan at the close of day two.
Resuming their first innings on 76 for three, Balochistan managed to score 285 for nine in 83 overs. Mohammad Shahid coming to bat at number nine top-scored with an unbeaten 60-ball 72, striking four fours and five sixes. Other significant run-getters in Balochistan innings were Fahad Iqbal (60 off 141, five fours, one six) and Abdul Hanan (55 off 76, four fours, two sixes).
Northern’s Farhan Shafiq picked four for 107, while Kashif Ali grabbed two for 32 in 11 overs.
At stumps, Northern were 108 for five in 34.3 overs. Ziad Khan top-scored with 50 off 89, smashing three fours and one six.
Balochistan’s Tariq Jameel and Fahad picked two wickets apiece.
At LCCA Ground in Lahore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 337 for nine in 65 overs in reply to Central Punjab’s 403. Resuming their first innings on 370 for three, Central Punjab managed to score 403 for three in 83 overs with Rizwan Hussain returning undefeated on 99 while Irfan Khan scored unbeaten 91.
In reply, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Zohaib Khan top-scored with an unbeaten 73-ball 96, hitting 10 fours and three sixes. Captain and opening batter Waqar Ahmed chipped in with 80 off 91, laced with 11 fours and two sixes. Mohammad Mohsin Khan (47 off 66, eight fours) and Mohammad Sarwar Afridi (42 off 63, four fours) were other contributors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s batting.
For Central Punjab, Nisar Ahmad picked three for 63, while Mohammad Waheed and Sohaibullah bagged two wickets apiece.
