RAWALPINDI: Peshawar region Thursday outclassed Federally Administered Tribal Areas team by seven wickets in the Cool & Cool Presents JAZZ National T20 Cup 2016/17 third round match here at the Pindi Stadium.
Peshawar’s pacer Anwar Ali’s three wickets burst pushed Fata to the wall that allowed them get just 114 runs for seven wickets and in reply Peshawar reached the target making 120 runs losing three wickets with seven overs (42 balls) to spare.
Anwar clean bowled Fata openers Yasri Hameed and Fawad Khan and later got Aamer Yamin while other members of the bowling line up Waqas Maqsood, Imran Khan, Imran Khalid, Zohaib Khan shared one wicket each. Yasir Bilal Asif and Umar Siddiq were the Fata bats who could get among the score by making 35, 29 and 17 respectively. Yasir in his 34 balls innings provided some resistance and also managed two fours and a six. Same number of boundaries were hit by Bilal while Umar could time one four.
Peshawar in their chase had a solid start from Rafatullah and Israrullah who got 70 runs for the first wickets. Rafat was the first to walk back with 23 runs on board but Israr kept thing moving and made brisk 50 in 29 balls. He hit nine fours and two sixes.
Iftikhar Ahmed 15, Fakhar Zaman 18 and Shoaib Maqsood 11 completed the score having little trouble with the latter two remaining not out.
Anwar for his to the line bowling got the players of the match award and the win also got Peshawar two points to get their total points to 6.
