MULTAN: Lahore Whites pulled off a sensational six runs win against title favourite Peshawar in the Cool and Cool Present Jazz National T20 Cup match here at Multan Stadium on Saturday.
Two half centuries one each by Salman Butt and Umer Akmal and a set of triple 11 from Lahore set up 160 runs target for Peshawar to achieve. But Lahore bowlers bowled out Peshawar at 153 in 19.5 overs to disrupt the balance of power at the points table.
Lahore 159 runs came for the loss of three wickets in which Salman Butt held the upper order in order by scoring 61 runs in 52 balls and also hit nine boundaries. Later Umer having seen his brother Kamran Akmal fall at eight, developed a quick 42 balls 57 runs by smashing five sixes and a four. Eleven each from Sikandar Raza and Jahandad Khan and 11 extras gave respect to the total.
Ghulam Mudassar, Imran Khan and Imran Khalid shared one wicket each.
In reply, Peshawar had and early below of two wickets for 20 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed, Sohaib Maqsood and Kakhar Zaman who also remained not out muster 27, 24 and 62 runs respectively while remaining batsmen did not even cross into double digits figures and the whole team surrendered at 153 with one ball to spare. Ziaul Haq with three wickets while Kashif Bhatti and Ehsan Adil with two and Kamran Ghulam one kept Peshawar batting in order.
