MULTAN: Asad Shafiq batted Karachi Whites home against fighting Fata in the Cool and Cool Presents Jazz National T20 Cup match here at Multan Stadium on Saturday.
Fata developed 124 runs for eight wickets and Islamabad relied heavily on Asad’s batting reached 127 for five wickets with 16 balls to spare.
Asad’s 62 runs innings paved the way for Karachi’s win otherwise they too like Fata lost two quick wickets before he came in to settle the score.
Asad faced 43 balls and in about 40 minutes stay at the crease he hit 10 boundaries. He was given support by Rameez Raja who score useful 17 runs in as many balls.
After Rameez and Asad were back in the dressing room, Akbar-ur-Rehman 16, Danish Aziz and Saud Shakeel (one run) provided spine to the score with 17 not out. Danish along with Sohail Khan (8) saw off the match.
Fata’s bowlers Aamer Yamin, Asif Afridi, Mohammad Irfan and Sameen Gul though toiled hard but they stretched Karachi’s efforts by taking one wicket each.
Earlier, Fata having jolted at the upper line got stability from the middle order batsmen. Bilal Asif and Aamer Yamin were the key players who played sensibly to get to 44 and 34 respectively and took the team’s total from 31 for three to 90 for four.
Yamin was the first to leave the crease after having hit five fours and a six in 26 balls innings. Bilal on the other hand kept playing to hit two fours and two sixes and faced46 balls.
Fawad Khan and Mohammad Irfan contributed 11 runs each in the score. Tabish Khan and Sohail Khan played a wreckers part from Karachi attack taking three and two wickets respectively while Aam Hussain and Saud Shakeel had one wicket each.
