Match Report: Kamran gets Lahore Whites second straight win

RAWALPINDI: National cricketers Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt yet again played a lead role in Lahore Whites big nine wickets win over Islamabad in the ongoing Cool & Cool Presents JAZZ National T20 Cup 2016 first round match played here at Pindi Stadium on Friday.

Kamran played a magnificent innings of 91 runs while Salman remained not out at 32 to get Lahore Whites their second win with 11 balls to spare. First their attack led by Kashif Bhatti, Amad Butt, both of whom had two wickets while Kamran Ghulam and Hussain Talat, one each, kept a tight lease to contain Islamabad at 138 for seven and their Kamran, Salman and Umer Akmal completed the score by making 142 runs in 18.1 overs.

Kamran smacked 18 boundaries, 17 of them were fours as he faces just 52 balls while Salman held the other end with resilience to get to 32 in 47 balls. As Shahzad Azam had Kamran trapped, Umer came up with a similar knock of 18 in 10 balls hitting two fours and a six and with the match was over and so were Islamabad’s hopes.

Earlier, Ali Sarfraz remained the only Islamabad batsmen to be the highest scorer with 34 runs in an otherwise poor batting display from the capital city team. Afaq Raheem 18 studded with four fours, Raheel Majeed 16 with one four and a six, Abid Ali 14, Imamul Haq 20 and Shehzad Azam 18 not out failed to convert their contributions into big innings. Ali, however, in his not out innings of 21 balls had to his credit three fours and a six.

If Kamran, Salman and Umer were the vocal batsmen, Lahore’s attack too played a lead role in their team’s success to now have four points with to successive wins.
