MULTAN: Islamabad Region thrashed Lahore Blues by five wickets in the Cool and Cool Presents Jazz National T20 Cup match here at Multan Stadium on Friday.
Islamabad first contained Lahore at 119 runs for six wickets and then overhauled the score by getting to 123 runs with the fall of five wickets in 19.1 overs.
Islamabad bowlers kept Lahore batsmen quite quiet throughout the 20 overs. Four of their batsmen could reach the double figures and only two of them played a 30-plus innings.
Their opener Nasir Jamshed got 26 after fall of two quick wickets, one of Ahmed Shahzad and later Naved Yasin 36 and Saad Nasim 32 provided spine to the score. Asif Raza on his part remained not out at 11 runs.
Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Irfan had two wickets while Adil Amin and Abdur Rehman had one apiece.
Later, Islamabad after losing one of its openers Sami Aslam for just a nine and teams’ 27 runs, had a responsible batting from Afaq Rehman.
Afaq and Abid Ali then took the total to 93 runs in which the former scored 41 runs while the latter made 46.
Ali Sarfraz who was trapped leg before made 14 and later Naeem Anjum and Zohaib Ahmed remained not out to saw their team to victory.
Ahmed Bashir, Imran Ali, Raza Ali Dar and Ahmed Shahzad shared one wicket each.
