MULTAN: Danish Aziz with his half century steered Karachi Whites to a six runs win against Rawalpindi region in the Cool and Cool Presents Jazz National T20 Cup match here at Multan Stadium on Thursday.
Banking on the innings of Danish, who had two useful partnerships with Asad Shafiq and Tariq Haroon, took Karachi total to 149 for five and later their bowlers restricted Rawalpindi to 134 runs for nine.
Karachi batting was dented by Hammad Azam and Aizaz Cheem early on when their openers were back in the pavilion for 18 runs. Their one down batsman Rameez Raja came to its aid with a calm 19 in 22 balls and then Asad, Danish and Tariq joined the ranks on their turns. Asad gathered 28 runs. Danish scored match saving 52 in 36 balls, also hitting five fours and two sixes ahile Tariq made 25.
Aizaz had two wickets including one of the opener while Hammad, Samiullah and Shadab Khan had one wicket each.
Rawalpindi in their chase had a good start when its openers developed 44 runs for the first wickets. Mukhtar Ahmed hit brisk 21-ball 30 while Zeeshan Malik made 15. Mukhtar was the first batsman to walk back after hitting six fours while his partner faced 18 balls with just one four to his credit.
Rawalpindi one down bat Umer Amin, scared Karachi with a half century that came in 38 balls. His innings had been aided by three sixes and the same number of fours. After his innings was over, there was not a single batsmen who could play a reasonable innings and just 11 runs came from Shadab Khan. nearly all the Karachi bowlers kept a tight leash but Tabish Khan and Mir Hamza with two wickets each and Faraz Ahmed, Azam Hussain and Asad Shafiq had one wicket apiece in their team’s win.
