Lahore Blues win National U15 and U17 Cup

Lahore, 1 March 2025: The inaugural edition of the National U15 and U17 Cup came to an end with Lahore Blues completing a double. The two tournaments ran from 14-28 February with 18 teams taking part in each competition.

Over 500 U15 and U17 players from the 16 regions across Pakistan got an opportunity to showcase their talent in the revamped age-group structure at the grassroots level.

Lahore Blues U15 and U17 teams bagged PKR 1 million each for winning the tournaments, while runners up of U15 Cup, Rawalpindi and runners up of U17 Cup, Karachi Whites were awarded PKR 0.5 million each.

National U15 Cup

Lahore Blues U15 beat Rawalpindi U15 by eight wickets to seal the title at the Dring Stadium, Bahawalpur on Friday. The match was reduced to 25 overs due to wet outfield.

After opting to bat first, Rawalpindi posted 153-7 in allotted 25 overs with the help of Azan Ahmed’s 84 off 62 balls inclusive of 13 fours. In turn, Lahore Blues reached the target in 22.3 overs with eight wickets in hand.

Blues’ opening batter Mahad Ali struck unbeaten 86 off 67 balls with the help of 11 fours.


National U17 Cup

Lahore Blues won by five wickets against Karachi Whites in the National U17 Cup final at the Multan Cricket Stadium. After winning toss and opting to bowl first, Lahore Blues bundled out Karachi Whites for 135 in 37.2 overs.

For Lahore Blues, Taj Muhammad and Ibtisam Azhar picked up three scalps each. Arham Danish and Ali Usman collected two wickets each. In reply, Lahore Blues romped to victory in 26.1 overs with opening batter Khawaja Hamid top-scoring with 40 off 56 balls.
