Karachi, 12 August 2022: Sindh U19 Whites right-arm off-spinner Haseeb-ur-Rehman took 16 wickets in the match to hand his team a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Balochistan U19 Whites in the third round match of the National U19 Championship on Friday.
At the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 27 for one, Balochistan U19 Whites were bowled out for 166 in the 61st over. Opening batter Mohammad Aqdas top-scored with 71 off 159, hitting 10 fours.
For Sindh U19 Whites, playing his first match of the tournament, the right-arm off-spinner Haseeb-ur-Rehman took nine wickets for 79 runs from 25.5 overs. In the first innings the spinner had taken seven wickets. He ended up with match figures of 43.2-8-122-16.
Sindh U19 Whites chase down the nine-run target in the fourth over without losing any wicket.
Pool A fixtures:
At the TMC Ground, right-handed Habibullah’s 168 and five-wicket haul in each innings by left-arm spinner Ziaullah guided Sindh U19 Blues to an innings and 115-run win over Balochistan U19 Blues. Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 96 for one, Sindh U19 Blues declared their innings on 325 for six in 59 overs. Habibullah’s 168-run knock included 13 fours and 10 sixes which came off 172 balls.
Trailing by 152 runs, Balochistan U19 Blues were bundled out for 37 in the 34th over. Left-arm spinner Ziaullah bagged five wickets for 11 runs and ended up with match figures of 10 for 58.
At the HPC Ground, Northern U19 Blues played out a drawn game against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues. Resuming their first innings at 90 for no loss, Northern U19 Blues scored 311 for seven in 83 overs. Aseer Mughal (74, 105b, seven fours, one six), Saad Masood (70, 135b six fours) and Shamyl Hussain (55, 98b, six fours) all scored half-centuries for the batting side.
For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues, Hilal Ahmed and Mohammad Shoaib bagged three wickets apiece.
At the close of play, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues were 94 for no loss in 15 overs. Mohammad Farooq returned undefeated on 58 from 52 balls, smashing six fours and three sixes.
In another drawn game, Southern Punjab U19 Blues were 129 for seven in their second innings against Central Punjab U19 Blues at the KCCA Ground when stumps were called. Sharjeel Hasan top-scored with a 98-ball 62, hitting three fours and one six.
Central Punjab Blues’ Ali Asfand, Ali Raza and Arham Nawab bagged two wickets each.
Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 38 for two in 16 overs, Central Punjab were bowled out for 108 in the 48th over. Southern Punjab’s Bilal Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with five for 40. Mohammad Shan bagged four wickets for 34 from 12.4 overs.
Pool B fixtures:
At the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy Ground, Central Punjab U19 Whites played out a drawn game against Southern Punjab U19 Whites. Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 36 for one, Southern Punjab U19 Whites scored 316 for seven in 83 overs. Haseeb Nazim and Uzair Mumtaz scored half-centuries.
For Central Punjab U19 Whites, Hasan Ali Jnr bagged four wickets for 115, while Mohammad Ibtisam took two for 49.
In reply, Central Punjab U19 Whites were 41 for one in six overs when stumps were drawn.
At the NBP Sports Complex, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites and Northern U19 Whites played out a drawn game. Resuming their first innings at the score of 167 for eight in 79 overs, Northern U19 Whites managed to score 183 for nine in 83 overs.
In return, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites declared their first innings on 185 for nine in 57.4 overs. Shahzaib Khan top-scored with an unbeaten 75 off 173 balls, hitting nine fours.
For Northern Whites, Abdul Basit and Mohammad Nabeel grabbed three wickets apiece.
In return, Northern U19 Whites were 12 for no loss in three overs when stumps were drawn.
At the end of third round, Sindh U19 Blues lead the Pool A with 11 points. In Pool B, Northern U19 Whites lead the table with 13 points. The fourth round will begin from 15 August.
