Pakistan v New Zealand, 2nd Test, Day 2

Powered by centuries from Haris Sohail and Babar Azam, Pakistan find themselves in the driving seat in the second Test against New Zealand at Dubai international Stadium.

The men in green resumed their innings at 207/4 at the start of the second day's play. Both Haris and Babar played solidly and added a further 67 before the Lunch interval.

In the process Haris completed his century. This was his third in Test cricket and second this season. His partner at the other end, Babar, moved to his half century.They eased into Lunch at 274/4.

The second session was another wicket-less passage of play. Though Pakistan didn't go hammer and tongs but they further consolidated their position.

Babar went into the Tea break at 99, one shy of what would have been his maiden Test century.

Post the respite, New Zealand finally found a way to break the partnership. Trent Boult dismissed Haris for 147.

Babar went onto score his first Test century. Sarfaraz declared the innings at 418/5 leaving New Zealand to negotiate with a tricky half-an-hour in fading light.

Jeet Raval and Tom Latham stood tall to see off the period as New Zealand finished the day at 24/0.

 

The black caps trail by 394 runs. They lead the 3-match series 1-0.
