- Quetta Women beat Multan Women by one-wicket in a thrilling finish
Lahore, April 26, 2024: Iram Javed and Samiya Afsar stitched an unbroken 149-run partnership for the second wicket to guide Lahore Women to a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Rawalpindi Women in the fifth round of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament in Faisalabad on Friday.
At the Bohranwali Ground in Faisalabad, Iram scored 84 not out off 70 balls with 11 fours and two sixes, while Samiya scored a 76-ball 62 with 10 fours as Lahore Women achieved the 155-run target for the loss of opener Eyman Fatima in 25 overs.
Earlier, Rawalpindi Women were bowled out for 154 in 48.5 overs with Tania Saeed top-scoring with 36 and Maham Anees contributing 34. For Lahore Women, Zunash Sattar took three for 38, Quratulain bagged two for 24, and Ayesha Bilal snapped up two for 36.
At the Jawad Sports Complex Ground, Karachi Women scored 194 for nine in 50 overs and then bowled out Peshawar Women for 44 in 25 overs.
Karachi captain Omaima Sohail produced an all-round performance when she followed up her 47 with figures of 3-1-2-4. Anosha Nasir (30) and Syeda Aroob Shah scored 30 and 20 runs for Karachi Women, respectively.
Like Omaima, Maham Manzoor and Syeda Aroob Shah also enjoyed bowling to Peshawar batters, taking three wickets for five runs and two wickets for nine runs, respectively.
In a low-scoring but thrilling match at the Iqbal Stadium, Quetta Women defeated Multan Women by one wicket.
Chasing a modest 111-run target, Quetta Women slipped from 60 for three to 104 for eight before No.7 batter Arijah Haseeb steered her side home in 30.5 overs by scoring 33 not out.
Earlier, opener Sadaf Shamas scored 35 as Multan Women were dismissed for 110 in 40 overs. Saiqa Riaz (18) and Noor-ul-Amin (11) were the other batters to cross double-figures.
Quetta Women’s Kinza Wahab (two for 17), Saima Malik (two for 21), and Ayesha Amjad (two for 25) shared wickets.
After five rounds, Lahore Women have a 100 per cent success record, Karachi have won four games, Quetta three matches, Multan two matches, Rawalpindi one match, while Peshawar is still searching for its maiden win.
