Gull Rukh and Arijah Haseeb hit centuries in second round of PCB Women's University Tournament

Lahore, 30 May 2024: Punjab University beat Government College University (GCU) by a 251-run margin in the second round of the PCB Women’s University Cricket Tournament at GCU Ground, Lahore.

Gull Rukh scored 143 off 76 balls, including 25 boundaries and one six. She was supported from the other side by Ataf Iqbal who scored an unbeaten 44-ball 77 with the help of five fours and one six Punjab University posted 267-1 in their 20 overs.

GCU, in turn, were bowled out for just 16 runs in 10 overs.  Khadija Zaib picked up three wickets while Kainat Eman and Rukhsar Mumtaz dismissed two batters each.

In the second match of Lahore Zone at COMSATS Ground, Kinnaird College beat Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) by 45 runs. They were led in their efforts by Fatima Shahid who top-scored with a 38-ball 39 which included five fours and one six.

LCWU were bundled out for 62 in 15.3 overs. Kinnaird’s Laveeza Munir and Amna Bibi bagged three wickets each.

In Karachi Zone, the University of Karachi overpowered Jinnah University for Women by 138 runs. Arijah Haseeb led her side with a sparkling 106 off 69 balls with 15 boundaries. Kinza Wahab supported her, scoring an unbeaten 55 off 52, hitting six boundaries.

University of Karachi bowlers led by Tooba Khan (3-3) and Kishwar Mai (3-13) succeeded in limiting their opponents to a mere 50 runs in 15.2 overs.

The second match in Karachi Zone was awarded to IBA Karachi in a walkover against Newport Institute at IBA Ground.

Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) defeated Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University in Rawalpindi Zone by eight wickets at Viqar-Un-Nissa College, Rawalpindi.

FJWU were able to chase SBBWU’s paltry total of 48 runs in 7.4 overs for the loss of two wickets. Humna Bilal top-scored with an unbeaten 22 off 21 while Anjeela Farzand scored 17 off 21 deliveries.

Earlier, FJWU bowlers Humna Bilal (4-14), Hadia Zia (3-15) and Anjeela Farzand (2-7) bowled out SBBWU for 48 in 8.3 overs.
