Faisal Akram's six-fer puts PTV in commanding position

Karachi, 8 February 2025: Faisal Akram’s six-wicket haul put PTV in a commanding position against WAPDA on day two of the sixth round match of the President’s Trophy Grade -I tournament on Saturday.

Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 375 for six, PTV were bowled out for 421 in 102.5 overs at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy. In turn, WAPDA were dismissed for 180 in 52.5 overs. PTV’s left-arm wrist spinner Faisal was the pick of the bowlers, bagging six wickets for 46. For WAPDA, Bismillah Khan top-scored with a 69-ball 56.

At stumps, PTV were 42 for three in 14 overs, leading by 283 runs.

At UBL Sports Complex, HEC extended their lead to 357 against SNGPL after Mohammad Mohsin Khan (105, 129b, 18x4s) helped HEC post 291 for nine in the second innings at stumps on day two. Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 100 for seven, SNGPL were bowled out for 113 in 34.5 overs.

For HEC, Maaz Khurram, Muhammad Azab and Waseem Akram Jnr took three wickets each.

At KCCA Stadium, KRL were still trailing by 143 runs with six first innings wickets at hand against Ghani Glass when stumps were called on second day’s play. Rohail Nazir returned undefeated on 67 off 123 balls, which included five fours and two sixes. For KRL, Abdul Faseeh (77, 131b, 7x4s, 2x6s) and Waqar Ahmed (70, 175b, 6x4s) also scored half-centuries.

Earlier, Ghani Glass resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 390 for nine and were dismissed for 406 in 97.1 overs. KRL’s Jawad Ali took six wickets for 123 runs in 32.1 overs.

At SBP Sports Complex, SBP managed to add only 101 runs to their overnight score of 314 for five as the side were bundled out for 415 in 111.4 overs against Eshaal Associates. Rameez Aziz, who returned undefeated on 135, was dismissed for 180 off 238 balls, hitting 27 fours and one six.

For Eshaal Associates, Asad Raza, Jalat Khan and Nisar Ahmad picked three wickets apiece.

In turn, Eshaal Associates were 177 for five in 54 overs when stumps were called. Azan Awais top-scored for side with a 115-ball 57, smashing six boundaries.

For SBP, Mohammad Ismail and Sirajuddin bagged two wickets each.
