Lahore, 26 October 2024: Invincibles beat Challengers by seven wickets in the first match of the seventh round of the National Women’s U19 T20 Tournament at the LCCA Ground, Lahore on Saturday. In the second match of the day, Conquerors romped to a 98-run victory over Stars.
Challengers managed to post 79-4 in the allotted 20 overs after being invited to bat first by Invincibles. Malaika Suhani (21 not out, 31b, 2x4s) and Nasreen Ashraf (19, 29b, 3x4s) stitched a 45-run fifth-wicket stand to help Challengers reach 79 after they were reduced to 34-4.
For Invicibles Afsheen Imran picked up two wickets while Syeda Batool Fatima dismissed one batter. In turn, player of the match, Wasifa Hussain (32, 62b) knit a 49-run third-wicket stand with Dina Razvi (23 not out, 34b, 2x4s) to help their team chase the 80-run target in 17.4 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Later in the day, Conquerors extended their winning streak by defeating Stars in a lopsided contest. After opting to bat first, Conquerors racked up 148-2 in 20 overs. Opening batter Samiya Afsar struck six fours in her 42-ball 43 whereas Ravail Farhan (43 not out, 42b, 5x4s) and Areesha Ansari (35 not out, 29b, 5x4s) put on 77 runs for the third wicket.
Stars’ skipper Memoona Khalid picked up 2-25 in her four overs. In reply, Stars were bundled out for 50 in 16.4 overs with only Fizza Fayyaz (11, 8b, 2x4s) and Fariha Fahim Taimoor (10, 17b, 1x4) entering double figures. Laiba Nasir took 3-10 while Maheen Irfan and Fatima Khan picked up two wickets each.
The eighth round of the tournament will be played on Monday, 28 October.
