- Northern beat Balochistan by two runs in the second match of the day
Faisalabad, 12 September 2022: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded their first win of this year’s Cricket Associations T20 as they rolled over Southern Punjab by nine wickets at Bohranwali Ground on Monday. The two teams had not won a match in this edition before facing off today.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa skittled Southern Punjab for 86 runs in 18.3 overs. Mohammad Irfan Khan took three wickets for 14 runs and Ahmed Khan picked up two wickets for 16 runs.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa crossed the line in 13.4 overs with Maaz Sadaqat top-scoring with 38-ball 39 not out. Rehan Afridi made 26 not out off 28.
In the second match of the day at the same venue, Northern in a thrilling contest defeated Balochistan by two runs to keep their 100 per cent win record in the tournament.
Opting to bat first, Northern scored 154 for four in 20 overs courtesy an unbeaten half-century by Taimoor Khan (54 not out, 37b, five fours, one six). Umair was other notable scorer who made 43 off 38, studded with five fours and one six.
Balochistan’s left-arm spinner Jalat Khan bagged two wickets for 22.
In return, half-century from Abdul Hanan (59 off 36, one four, five sixes) and quick-fire 48 off 35 balls which included three fours and as many sixes was not enough for Balochistan to cross the line as the side remained two-run short of the target and could score 152 for seven in their allotted 20 0vers.
For the winning side, Musa Khan and Aqib Liaqat grabbed two wickets each.
