Faisalabad, 7 September 2022: In the first match on the second day of the Cricket Associations T20, Northern’s bowlers handed a 19-run win to their side over Sindh, while the second match of the day between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was abandoned because of rain.
Kashif, Aaqib bowl Northern to win
Disciplined spells from Kashif Ali (two for eight from four overs) and Aaqib Liaquat (three for 23 from four overs) helped Northern beat Sindh in a low-scoring encounter in the Cricket Association T20 at the Bohranwali Ground.
Chasing 122, Sindh managed only 102 for nine as Ammad Alam top-scored with run-a-ball 35, while Hasan Mohsin made 18 off 25.
Northern’s Atif Khan top-scored with 31 off 26 after Sindh asked Northern to bat. Taimoor Sultan made 23 off 16 and Hasan Raza scored 22 off 18 as Northern scored 121 for nine.
Mohammad Taha was the pick of the bowlers for Sindh with three for eight. Arish Ali Khan and Ghulam Mudassar picked up two wickets each.
Central Punjab v Khyber Pakhtunkhwa abandoned after seven overs
Abid Ali and Umar Akmal were not out on 25 and 32 when it started to pour down in Faisalabad and as such the match had to be abandoned. Abid’s partner Gauhar Hafeez was run out, while Rizwan Hussain, the Central Punjab captain, was dismissed by Mohammad Amir Khan.
