Lahore, 8 April 2022: An all-round performance from captain Arham Nawab and half-century by Abdullah Shahid guided Divisional Public School Faisalabad to a six-wicket win over Government College University Lahore in the final to clinch the title of the Central Punjab Cricket Association College Championship 2021-22 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday.
Chasing 177 to win, player of the match Abdullah top-scored with 76 off 66 balls. His innings included seven fours and one six. Abdur Rehman contributed 32 off 65 and struck two boundaries during the course of his innings. The pair knitted 64 runs for the third wicket. The left-handed Arham coming to bat at number five returned undefeated on 24. His innings included a four and a six off 25 balls faced. DPS Faisalabad achieved the target with four balls to spare.
Arham collected winning cheque of PKR 0.5 million along with a trophy, while his opposing captain Muzamil Ishfaq bagged runners-up trophy along with a cheque of PKR 0.3 million.
Earlier, after being put into bat, GCU Lahore managed to score 176 for nine in 40 overs. Opening batter Mubashir Muzamil top-scored with a 98-ball 61, which included three fours. Hasnain Qamar batting at number four was other contributor with the bat scoring 33 off 36 balls, hitting three fours.
For DPS Faisalabad, Arham led from the front and bagged three wickets for 22 in eight overs. The off-spinner was equally supported by right-arm fast Abdur Rehman who bagged three wickets for 44 in eight overs.
